Blackout Effectors A Very Special Twosome Dual Fuzz Ltd.
This pedal has totally redefined fuzz for me. While I do appreciate simplistic pedal designs like the ones on the EHX Big MUffs, I do love versatility. This pedal is a limited edition version of the already acclaimed Blackout Effectors Twosome Dual Fuzz, and the difference between them is a single switch. But don’t underestimate the power of this single switch, for that basically gives you two more pedals: the Fix’d into the Musket and the Musket into the Fix’d. You can of course disengage either the Fix’d or the Musket sides, so you still have the option to run each independently.
The original pedal had been on my G.A.S. list since it came out, but the price tag was stiff… So I decided to simply let it lie for a while, after all I wasn’t really unhappy with my Electro-Harmonix Big MUff Pi w/ Tone Wicker.
That was until I saw the video on the pedal on ProGuitarShop.com, which was the sole retailer for this limited edition. I saw the video 3 days after its publishing, and even though the page for the pedal was up, the pre-ordering button wasn’t available. The status was “sold-out”. I assumed I had missed the deal, so I wrote an email to Blackout Effectors, asking if there was any chance of a custom order.
Kyle Tompkins himself (the creator of the pedal) answered the email:
Hi Wallace,
You haven’t missed out yet! Only the first 50 are sold out. We’re sending PGS another 25 this week and then the remaining balance the following week. Keep checking their website and you can still grab one.
Cheers,
Kyle

After a few agonizing days and loads of refreshing to the pedals page at PGS, I finally managed to pre-order the pedal from PGS!
An important remark I must make for the sake of clarity: I was blown away with the overall quality of this pedal, and wouldn’t hesitate to buy any other pedal from Blackout Effectors. Some models might be pricey but if you appreciate craftsmanship and quality, you’ll be hard put to regret investing in their pedals. This pedal, given its quality, should have cost me much more!
It would be foolish to describe the textures one can get out of this pedal, so I let you have a listen instead. My excerpt track Fitz-Chivalry – Bastard [link coming soon] has a lot of fuzz from this pedal, hope you like it!
I’ve been meaning to make a demo on this pedal for ages, but the truth is, Andy from PGS did a very good job at it:
