Jogue Já
Jogue Já (“play now” in Portuguese) is an online gaming website I made to test the viability of a game CMS. The CMS itself was commercial, but I thought of giving it a shot since it was quite affordable. Because of its very affordability, I thought of it mostly as a very promising script that was “exchanged” by a symbolic amount of money so that the developer could expose it to a wider public and buy some coffee at the same time.
As I said, the script looked very promising, and it is. But the developer, in my opinion, made the mistake to create a very cumbersome administration panel full of useless AJAX for the sake of eye-candy. Some other template-related features are almost as useless and hard-coded, so customization, even though possible, relies almost completely on the skills of the web designer. The same with the game database. If you are to optimize it, go straight to your database administration, don’t even bother using the system’s administration panel. I really don’t like systems like this.
In other words, the site is up and running alright, but I won’t be using this CMS again. I love games and see myself developing another gaming website, but it will be in another platform.
